Dawn Chorus Sing Wild Kinship Camp Out
Saturday May 3rd - Sunday May 4th
Staverton, Devon.
Arrive from 6pm Saturday for a fireside evening meal and singalong song share, then camp out in the woods ready for Dawn Chorus Sing Up
(or go home to sleep and return Sunday 4.45-8.45am)
Dawn chorus in early May is one of the most embodied experiences of pure joy you could wish for. An unsurpassed ecological communion.
Join this early morning gathering in our young deciduous woodland in Staverton to settle in the woods at dawn and listen to the phenomenal chorus of bird kin along the Dart Valley. I will support you in close listening for specific voices and introduce those familiar species to gain greater intimacy with who's among us in the trees and undergrowth.
After a gentle salutary sunrise stretch and warming tea around the fire, I'll facilitate a chorus of our own, singing land blessing songs together and offering our human voices into the woods in reciprocity.
We'll provide a warm, nourishing breakfast before bidding each other farewell into the Spring morning!
This event will go ahead in all but extreme weather conditions and even on a mild day pre-dawn sitting can be very cold, so please dress extra warmly and bring waterproofs, thick wool is especially good for suitably quiet water resistance!
Bring a journal for any notes and reflections you might like to make as part of the process.
Dinner will be a vegetable stew with sourdough and breakfast will be vegan, gluten free hot porridge with wholesome additions. Please alert us to any allergies. Hot drinks provided.
Over 18s only. Parking on site. You will need to bring a tent or bivvy, but crockery and cutlery is provided. Compost toilet but no showers available. More details on booking. Spaces limited. Booking essential. Please lift-share where possible.
Contact me to discuss partial attendance e.g. just the evening or morning.
